Lead-to-cash maturity is hard to discuss when every team uses a different definition of good. Sales may care about speed. Finance may care about margin and billing accuracy. Legal may care about risk. Operations may care about fulfillment detail. Leadership may care about forecast trust.
This template gives those teams a shared way to score the current state.
How to use the template
Score each area from 1 to 5:
- 1 means the process is mostly manual, unclear, or dependent on individual knowledge.
- 3 means the process works but still requires frequent intervention.
- 5 means the process is governed, measurable, and maintainable.
How to interpret the result
A low score does not automatically mean you need a new platform. It means the operating model needs attention.
Look for clusters:
- Low product and pricing scores point to data readiness.
- Low quote creation and approval scores point to workflow redesign.
- Low handoff and billing scores point to architecture and integration issues.
- Low reporting and ownership scores point to post-launch governance risk.
What to do next
Pick the lowest scoring area and collect five recent examples. For each example, identify the missing rule, missing data, unclear owner, or broken handoff. That evidence is more useful than a generic maturity conversation.
If the assessment shows cross-functional gaps, start with a quote-to-cash architecture review. If it shows CPQ-specific issues, use a CPQ assessment to prioritize the fix path.
